Our Story
SNT was born from a desire to equip the local church to be transformed by the Word
Our Story
From a heart for the church to a school of Scripture
SNT began in 2015 when Emily Manginelli, Phil Manginelli, and Eliza Olsen dreamed of seeing their own church transformed by the Word of God. In the early years of launching the Square Church in Smyrna, Georgia, they longed for those in their community to not just read Scripture, but to encounter it in a way that brought lasting personal transformation—learning not to rely solely on someone else’s understanding, but to engage Scripture and discover the heart of God for themselves. Carrying that vision forward, Emily and Eliza founded and pioneered the school, shaping it into what SNT is today.
Our founders recognized a significant need within the Church today for biblical literacy—many believers desire to read and understand the Bible for themselves, but haven’t been equipped to do so. They believed that knowing how to engage Scripture, as the core foundation for hearing the voice of God, is essential for anyone who wants to know who Jesus is, why he is worth following, and how to live out his teachings faithfully.
The framework for the school was inspired by Youth With A Mission’s School of Biblical Studies—a full-time, nine-month inductive Bible program in which each of them had personally experienced the power of God’s Word to shape lives. Yet, in the rhythm of local church life, they recognized that most people could not step away for nine months to attend a full-time school. They began to imagine what it would look like to make this kind of biblical training available to the local church.
What emerged is a part-time program designed to equip and train local believers to understand, interpret, and teach Scripture within its historical, cultural, and literary context. Students are empowered to learn biblical truth, experience the heart of God, and grow their own understanding of the Word. The end goal is to equip graduates to understand Scripture in a way that allows them to accurately apply it to their own lives and to be followers of Jesus who live out the truths of Scripture and teach them to those around them, in whatever context they find themselves.
